BIO
Laura Borgen is a Fine Arts student at Oregon State University. Born in Eastern Oregon and raised in the mountains near Baker City, she experienced a rural, small town upbringing. Her father, a forester, instilled a respect for nature and a practical sense of environmentalism. Her mother, a newspaper publisher and youth literacy advocate, spurred a desire for knowledge. Now a senior at Oregon State University, Borgen has often used the subjects of her baccalaureate core classes as inspiration for her artwork, ranging from astronomy to world religions. In 2013, she studied abroad in Siena, Italy, where she produced artwork while studying art history and Italian language and culture. Studying renaissance masterpieces first hand and creating in a foreign environment gave her a unique opportunity to mature as an artist. Following her graduation in the spring of 2015, she intends to further her art education in graduate school.
